WISER opens satellite facility at UPMC McKeesport
Training started February 6th at the newly constructed WISER McKeesport campus. This 3500 square foot facility is the 2nd satellite opened by WISER this year. The facility consist of six training rooms, 2 control rooms, and several skill stations. The classroom contains state of the art projectors, computers and wireless network to support the on-line curriculum developed by WISER. The center contains 2 high tech Laerdal Simman, 1 Heartcode System, Central line trainers and many other related trainers.
Lift ¿N- Fit was the first course launched at the new facility. Employees took part in a 3 hour hands-on session to learn the 10-step protocol for proper lifting. More than 300 hundred nurses, nursing assistants, patient care technicians, licensed practical nurses and clinical caseworkers at the hospital will participate. Eventually, every staff member including all new hires will be attending the course as well.
Other courses that will be offered at the facility include central line training, code team training, ACLS, BLS, PALS and airway management skills.
There are two more WISER satellite facilities in the works with one being completely dedicated to pediatric simulation.
