Dr. McIvor promoted to Professor of Anesthesiology

Congratulations to William R. McIvor, MD, who was recently promoted to Professor of Anesthesiology. Dr. McIvor has been a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology since 1998. He is an Associate Director of the Peter M. Winter Institute for Simulation, Education, and Research (WISER) and Director of Medical Student Simulation Education for both the department as well as WISER. He is Director of WISERís simulation course for Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology and is an accomplished medical student and resident teacher, having received numerous departmental and university awards for teaching excellence, including seven Winter Awards for Excellence in Medical Student Clinical Education from the department and the Charles R. Watson Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education from the local chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha society. In 2005, Dr. McIvor was appointed as an inaugural member of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Academy of Master Educators.
