Japanese Government Delegation Visits University of Pittsburgh

Pitt alumnus Koichi Tanigawa, MD, PhD, served as a fellow in the Critical Care Medicine Training Program 1992/93 and at Safar Center for Resuscitation Research the following year. In 2002, he was appointed Professor and Chairman of the Department of EM and CCM (a common combination in Japan) at the University of Hiroshima. The leader of a Japanese Government Delegation to study EMS organization and training in the US, his group briefly visited our CCM Department, the EMS Center and WISER in the McKee Place, while collecting all relevant information on our prominent programs and then continuing on to Orlando and Los Angeles, the other two medical centers selected for their study tour.
