Delegation from Xiangya School of Medicine in China tours WISER

On Friday, April 15, 2011, delegates from Xiangya School of Medicine, located in Hunan, China, toured WISER as well as Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and UPMC headquarters in the US Steel Tower.

Dr. John P. Williams, Peter and Eva Safar Professor and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Associate Medical and Scientific Director of UPMC's International Division and Dr. Paul Phrampus, Director of WISER, greeted the delegation at WISER and provided an overview of how medical simulation is used at the University of Pittsburgh as well as UPMC. The tour was a chance to showcase WISER as a global growing center for healthcare simulation and a model for the future of patient care.

Xiangya School of Medicine is the first US founded medical school in China (established in 1914); Xiangya Hospital is the single largest hospital in China. Participating in the delegation activities were Mr. Chen Cheng, Manager of UPMC International Business Development; Mr. Tom Dongilli, WISER Director of Operation, and Dr. Li-Ming Zhang, UPMC Anesthesiologist and Xiangya alumnus.
