The Northwest Pennsylvania Practical Nursing Faculty group held their annual Faculty Development Day at WISER. Over forty individuals attended the Perkins Faculty Workshop. The half day workshop consisted of individuals speaking on various topics in the nursing profession and simulation environment. Morning topics included:

  • Simulation and Pharmacology by Barbara Miller, MSN, RN
  • Pediatric with MVA by Maureen Pentz, MSN, RN
  • Simulation and Wounds by Cynthia Huth, BSN, RN

WISER Associate Nursing Director John O'Donnell, DrPH, MSN, CRNA and WISERs Director of Operations, Tom Dongilli, lead the afternoon sessions which included information on simulation and interactive sessions with the participants. Topics such as the History of Simulation described the key points in the evolution of simulation training. Participants were also introduced to Simulation Assessment. Participants were also provided with information on identifying general approaches to assessment in simulation education. The afternoon concluded with participants interacting in debriefing sessions, where key goals for each of the roles given to them during the session were identified. The individuals demonstrated debriefing approaches and techniques that best fit the simulation scenario that they were given.
