WISER has presence at the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare
WISER at the 2009 IMSH

WISER had a very strong presence this year at the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare which was held at Disney's Contemporary Resort on January 12th-14th, 2009. Dr. Paul Phrampus, Director of WISER, as well as John O'Donnell, Associate Director of Nursing, were Faculty for a Post Graduate discussion on Instructor Training 2 – Structured and Supported DeBriefing. The focus of this post graduate course was to define structured and supported debriefing in the context of simulation education for healthcare providers, to describe the use of the GAS (gather, analyze, and summarize) rubric in structured and supported debriefing and to demonstrate the use of the structured and supported method in debriefing live and/or recorded simulation events. Another Faculty member for a Post Graduate course was WISER instructor Nicolette Mininni who gave an Introduction to team training and assessment. Associate Director of WISER, Dr. Michael DeVita, serves as president for the IMSH this year.
There were also several other WISER staff members who presented at this year's conference as well. Melissa Wanker, Coordinator of Simulation Services, presented on the topic "Day to day operational considerations of a simulation center." John Lutz, IT Director, gave a talk on "Addressing the IT needs of a simulation Center." Also, Dan Battista, Administrative Coordinator discussed "The Administrative Considerations of a Simulation Center." Tom Dongilli, Director of Operations and Administration, was the co-chair for the Operations of a Simulation Center track.
