Katy Berg RN, BSN
Katy Berg recently joined the staff at WISER as a Curriculum Developer focusing on the development of professional nursing courses for UPMC Surgical Services. Katy began her nursing career as a cardiac nurse for the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. While there, Katy was a founding member of the Patient Safety Committee at St. Luke's Hospital. After five years, she returned to her hometown of Pittsburgh. In October 2006, she began work as a Clinical Transplant Coordinator at the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute where she was employed until joining the WISER team in April 2008.
Katy is a 2001 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing.
Susan Lucot RN, MSN
Susan Lucot joins WISER/SimMedical as a Nurse Educator for the Heartcode BLS Program. Heartcode BLS is designed to provide instructor-less CPR training for healthcare providers as it raises the bar to saving lives. Ms. Lucot is working with educators throughout UPMC to provide a transition between traditional CPR courses and Heartcode BLS.
Susan has worked for UPMC in a variety of roles ranging from Laboratory Technologist, Professional Staff Nurse and now as a Nurse Educator. Susan earned her BSN and MSN from Robert Morris University (RMU) and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice with concentration in family practice at RMU.
Debbie Carse RN, MSN
Debra Carse recently joined the staff at WISER as a Curriculum Developer focusing on the development of professional nursing courses for UPMC Surgical Services. Debbie came to WISER from the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing. Debbie started her nursing career at Magee-Women's-Hospital as a staff nurse, preceptor and then a Nurse Educator. Following a move to Rochester, NY, her career at Highland Hospital included the roles of Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Manager-Family Birth Center, Education Coordinator for Highland's Center for Women, and Editor of Women's HealthSource. She had an active role in the development of Highland's Center for Women and the first hospital-based LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum) Unit in Rochester, NY.
In addition, Debbie was also an Adjunct Professor at St. John Fisher College and a Nursing Instructor at Monroe Community College. Debbie started and led a chapter of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) and was the NY Section Vice-Chairperson.

Debbie received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing from Duquesne University and her Master's degree in Parent-Child Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh.
