As of September 1, 2006, Michael DeVita, MD, is our latest Professor of Critical Care Medicine with a secondary appointment as Professor of Medicine. Dr. DeVita also serves as Associate Medical Director of UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He has gained a world wide reputation for his work on Ethics in CCM, Patient Safety issues, and, most recently, in the field of Medical Emergency Teams (METs) in our hospitals with two International Symposia held in Pittsburgh on this important topic. He also edited a book on METs, currently in its second printing. At WISER, Dr. DeVita serves as Associate Director and is a popular simulation teacher as well as course designer of the Crisis Team Training course. Dr. DeVita is program chair for the 2007 International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare, and the Associate Editor of the journal of Simulation in Healthcare.
