WISER and UPMC Respiratory Care publish simulation article in science journal
The March 2007 issue of RESPIRATORY CARE, the science journal of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC), features a paper published by the UPMC-Presbyterian Campus Department of Respiratory Care and WISER, entitled `Utilizing Simulation Technology for Competency Skills Assessment and a Comparison of Traditional Methods of Training to Simulation-Based Training¿. This is the first paper published in the journal on simulation training.
Also, in February 2007, Al Augustine and Dana Novotny from the Department of Respiratory Care, presented a simulation workshop at the Annual Kimberley-Clark Americas Sales Meeting in Las Vegas. The focus of the presentation was on patient safety and procedure standardization. The presenters drew upon their experiences at WISER to create a program that allowed for administrative and marketing staff to obtain hands-on `bedside experience¿ on a particular device and procedure.
