This full-day, 8 hour course prepares fourth year pharmacy students for their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs). The course will include a one hour physical assessment simulation, one hour acute care inpatient pharmacotherapy session, and a one hour intensive care pharmacotherapy session. Additionally, students will be introduced to the key components of Acute Care APPEs and actively participate in a disease management review of acute care topics. The Accreditation Council on Pharmacy Education requires that the APPEs provide an environment to permit pharmacy students to assume direct patient care responsibilities, so this Skills Enhancement Course will be utilizing simulation based learning (SBL) to enhance clinical decision making skills and confidence in patient care environments. |
