Description: |
This course provides the student nurse anesthetist with the opportunity to utilize a variety of airway devices to facilitate securing the patient airway and an opportunity to demonstrate critical thinking skills in appropriately incorporating the ASA Difficult Airway Algorithm into the management of multiple simulated difficult airway scenarios. At the end of the workshop the participant will be able to:
- Discuss and apply the ASA difficult airway algorithm into clinical practice
- State indications for using alternative airway techniques.
- Correctly perform alternative airway techniques including the use of the bullard, lighted stylet, bougie, fast trach LMA, ambu LMA, needle cricithyrotomy and jet ventilation, cricothyriodotomy with custom kit, fiberoptic intubation, combitube, King LT airway.
