The goal for this session is to simulate a common CA-1 case. Participants should assume they are a first-year anesthesia resident, and they've been assigned to care for Mr. Ross, a 74 year old man having a TURP (transurtheral retroscopic prostatectomy). Review the patient's history and physical, and the articles included about perioperative anesthesia management for this procedure. When you arrive at WISER, your simulation facilitator will assume the role of an anesthesiology attending. You'll start by simulating a preoperative phone call to your attending to discuss Mr. Ross, his procedure, and your anesthetic plan. After that you'll begin your perioperative care for your patient in the preop holding area. |
