In 2007, WISER opened a satellite site on the campus of UPMC McKeesport. UPMC McKeesport is a 219 bed full service community teaching hospital which serves approximately 200,000 residents in the Mon Valley.

The 3,160 square foot satellite site is conveniently located on the 2nd floor of the Annex building on the McKeesport campus. The facility includes 2 mannequin-based adult simulators, numerous task trainers, 12 wireless classroom laptops and a multipurpose classroom. Two state of the art simulation theaters, with adjoining control rooms, can realistically portray intensive care units and patient rooms.

UPMC Passavant is a 350-bed hospital with campuses in McCandless and Cranberry townships to serve northern Allegheny County, Butler County, and counties farther north. From its inception in 1849, the hospital has been dedicated to meeting the total health needs of its communities through conveniently located services and quality care.

The 1,400 square foot WISER satellite site is located on the second floor, west wing of UPMC Passavant, McCandless campus. The facility includes two large medical education training (MET) rooms with adjoining control rooms and a multipurpose classroom. Equipment consists of one simulation mannequin, two mannequins which allow for efficient and effective training on central lines and airway management, two mannequins to utilize for rescue management, and 14 wireless laptop computers. Each room is wired for audio and visual recording, along with playback capabilities.

This new center is convenient to both the clinicians at UPMC Passavant, as well as other health care professionals that need simulation education in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh. WISER looks to significantly expand its programs, especially in the nursing domain, at this rapidly expanding campus.
